I just finished and sent in the rough draft of my first “Independent Study” paper to my professor, so I am taking a break to blog for a bit before I get back to work to start an outline for another paper. In order to graduate with my Master’s degree this semester, my required credits were converted into 6 credits worth of Independent Study. I also kept the class that I was enrolled in, but have a literature review due as opposed to a research project. So for my 6 credits worth of Independent Study, I am writing a research paper, and making a website (that will hopefully actually be of use). I finished the rough draft of the first research paper (requirements: 10-12 pages without citations) after spending 4 or 5 days on the writing and almost a week on the research. It ended up being 22 pages + 4 pages of citations, which is kind of funny. I have over 20 pages of handwritten notes in my journal, too, from half a dozen sources. In the process, I earned a continuing education credit for physicians and a certificate of program completion from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Hahaha. Also, my brain melted.
Now that I turned the rough draft in 2 days early, I don’t really know what to do with myself, so I am probably going to start finding journal articles for my second paper, which will be a literature review. Hopefully, I won’t do another 22 page fiasco again, because I am really not up to it this time. Tomorrow, I have an appointment with a Career Adviser at my university, and on Friday, I will be doing some volunteer website management work for a teenage cancer fund organization. I also want to apply to the position they have open, so I need to write up a cover letter to print out and hand in to the HR person on Friday.
Just have to keep on moving forward. Just moving forward, on and on.
Retail therapy? I got a new phone, finally! I had a Droid 4, which I liked for the keyboard, but it was my 3rd or 4th because they all kept on breaking. This one was getting so slow that I was lucky if I got the front page unlocked because of the response time. I got the LG G2 (yes- I finally gave up on the keyboard thing), and I love it! I also ordered the LG Quickwindow Folio Case from Amazon (it’s $20 cheaper than buying it directly from Verizon…), and aside from the fact that there are 2 gaping holes in the front and back, it keeps the phone really slim, so it’s nice. I just don’t like how huge the holes are… 1/3rd of the screen isn’t even protected… Haha.
Also, the phone has all of its buttons on the back, so you double tap on the screen to wake it up and put it to sleep instead of using buttons. The camera is really nice though, and the processor is supposedly faster than Galaxy S4.
Here’s my video of the entry: The Giver trailer. (I was kind of hoping that they would at least do the first half of the movie in grayscale, since I think the people there only see in grayscale…? Oh well.)
